God, I think your watch is broken!!!
Does that sound familiar? Everyday we are faced with situations that make us wonder if God’s watch is broken. We hear on a regular basis that God’s timing is perfect…hearing and understanding are two totally different things.
One of the things that is hardest to grasp is that God does not operate in our timing. In fact, God doesn’t operate in time period!! Interesting thought! If God doesn’t operate in time…then He is available to show up right when He needs to. I am sure we can all look back on a time when we thought ‘if God doesn’t show up right now…’ that right now turned out to be, if God doesn’t show up tomorrow, if God doesn’t show up by the end of week, if God doesn’t show up by the end of the month.
We have a tendency to plan ahead. I mean…how could that be so bad when we know we have bills to meet, obligations to fulfill or life and death situations. The issue isn’t so much planning ahead; the issue is us thinking that God has to show up in our master plan at the exact time that we penciled Him in, with the exact thing that we thing will remedy our situation. We don’t realize that this gets in the way of God making His dramatic entrance as the Knight in Shining Armor.
I don’t know how many times I have been in a situation where I feel like if God doesn’t show up right now to rescue me, that surely this time I would die. Come to find out…I didn’t die and could hang on until the very moment that God showed up…which I realize on hindsight, was the perfect time. There were so many instances that I said to God ” I need money for ……now, I don’t know what I will do if the money doesn’t show up”! The interesting thing is that although the money didn’t always show up then, God gave me a solution or a reprieve that was better than the money. Therefore, showing me that in my humble mind I think that money is the solution and God shows me it isn’t. He is the ultimate solution.
I remember one particular situation where we planned when we got our tax money we would pay off a loan. For 2 years we said the same thing and for some reason other bills would come up and we would have to use the money to take care of them. As time went on, it became harder and harder to pay that bill and it felt like a stone around our neck. There were several times that we attempted to get a deferment on the loan and something would happen and we couldn’t do it. Plus the fact that we couldn’t even come up with the money for the deferment. Haha! Out of nowhere this year, when we didn’t plan on paying off the loan, we did our taxes and in that instant God said “Pay off the loan now”!! Just like that the loan was paid off. We couldn’t believe it!! Not only that, the loan got paid off right in time because within weeks we embarked on a journey that would require us to get rid of any loans we had. Wow!! We didn’t even plan on that.
That is just one instance…I have numerous!! What about you? Next time I am waiting on God to show up and I feel like His watch is broken, I am going to stop and remember that He doesn’t show up on time…He shows up in time!!!
