I begin this last post of 2019 saying that I am so grateful to the Lord for seeing us through and helping us to embrace the good, the bad and the ugly of what turned out to be an exhausting and taxing year!! I can focus on everything that went wrong; I can focus on how it felt like the flames got turned up seven times hotter (or should I say 12 times as each month it seemed to be turned up until we got to December)….BUT GOD!!!!
God has been teaching me and my family to live in the moment since 2016, but I don’t think we truly grasped a hold of that concept until this year. This year was filled with the unexpecteds (not in a good way) and so much of me saying to God, “I did not sign up for this!” It all eventually forced me into a place of getting quiet to figure out how to survive 2019. The answer was simple but hard…LIVE IN THE MOMENT!! We say we are taking one day at a time but that is too long, as things can change in an instant!! No, you live in the moment and deal with whatever happens in that moment, trusting that He will provide the solutions.
For those of us from the Caribbean, do you remember hearing our elders saying, “I will do this tomorrow, next month, in six months, etc. God Willing..?” That also took on new meaning. We can plan and that is great…just bear in mind, you do not know what tomorrow holds. Make your plans, but make them knowing who is in control and holds all the tomorrows…”I will do this, God Willing..!”
So, what I have learned this year: Live in the Moment…not hours, days, months from now and remember that while planning ahead, to preface it with God willing!!! Below, I have attached 2 videos that God used to speak to me this morning about this post. The first one is from the Broadway musical ‘Wicked’. While the two singers are referencing being changed for good by knowing each other, God used that to reference the trials we endured this year…”because I knew you, I have been changed for good.” The other is self explanatory from Frozen 2…we are heading into the Unknown, but with a God who knows it all. So here we go….🎵🎶into the Unknown!🎵🎶 Happy New Year 2020!!!!
