The Steps of a Rigtheous Man…
There comes a point in your walk with God where you finally begin to grasp the scripture, Psalm 37:23 Amplified Bible (AMP): “The steps of a [good and righteous] man are directed and established by the Lord,
And He delights in his way [and blesses his path].”
It is not because you or your leader or anyone else determines that you are a righteous man…but God in His sovereignty. It is not based on an outward appearance or even that you confessed Him as Lord and Savior. It is based on a process or processes that you have allowed God to walk you through to determine whether you are so sold out to Him that nothing else matters. It is not based on trials that you walked through…it is based on a level of obedience that appears reckless; it causes you to throw caution to the wind and follow God without question, without answers, without understanding. God did not consider Abraham His friend until God asked him to sacrifice the promise and Abraham obeyed. It wasn’t that Abraham didn’t go through numerous trials before as he followed this God whom he had never met before. His journey was long and arduous. He doubted God along the way a few times. The fact is, he never gave up. Through the fear, through the trials and through the doubt…he followed after the God who made a promise to him.
We are not considered righteous because we trust God, but rather because God can trust us to obey Him no matter what. It is your will Lord and not mine in any and every circumstance. It is doing what He asks despite fears, circumstances, etc. We don’t determine the date or time when He considers us righteous because we feel like we have done everything we should. It is God who determines because He can trust you to follow Him at the drop of a hat.
It is a place that every child of God should reach, but you can’t get there yourself. You have to allow Him to take you there and there is only one way…guaranteed, it is not the easy way. But there is something to be said about reaching a place where circumstances arise and you go to do whatever you used to do – pray, fast, seek counsel from others – and realize within your spirit that it is no longer necessary. I am not saying that all those things are not necessary…but there is a place you reach, where you find yourself feeling confident that God will truly order your steps and direct your path. It is a place that you just step out knowing that God has got you, and you will make the right decision; not based on human intellect, human reasoning or confirmation. It is based on a ‘knowing’ that the steps of a righteous man are ordered by God because He has determined so! And even this is a process.
